Guess what! You don’t need the fanciest and most expensive skincare products to get that glowing look. Get your cleansing right.

Are you overwhelmed with the zillions of skincare products out there and don’t know where to begin? Or are you easily enticed into buying expensive skincare products only to realise it’s not effective enough?

1. Well, you’re not alone. While the skincare industry has exploded with a variety of solutions in the past few years, not everything is applicable to every single person. If you follow the basics – cleanse, moisturize and use sunscreen – everyday, you’re good to go. Why we think cleansing is really important is because that’s the foundation to a healthy skin – a skin that’s free of makeup at night, pores that aren’t blocked for the skin to breathe, a skin that’s acne-free. Invest in a gentle cleansing milk infused with Vitamin E, panthenol that has soothing and refreshing properties, and effectively removes all traces of make up.

You may want to get a stronger one specifically for your waterproof eye and lip makeup. Here are recommendations from Mikyajy’s collection:

2. We can’t emphasize the importance of moisturizing enough! And that’s irrespective of if you have dry, oily or combination skin. Get a moisturizer that is meant for your skin type, preferably free of fragrance. Refrain from using body lotions on your face.

Massage your face with a nourishing oil on a weekly basis. Use a good facial oil of your choice – could be almond oil, olive oil, cold-pressed oils or priming oils. Here’s Mikyajy’s recommendation:

Pamper yourself every week with a nourishing face mask of your choice. We recommend you invest in masks that are produced from fruits and other natural ingredients. These are gentle on your skin. Include lip masks as well to take care of that pout! Here are a few recommendations from Mikyajy’s collection: (Kocostar face and lip masks)

3. Sunscreen is very important to minimize the ageing caused by exposure to the sun. Invest in a good broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 25 at least. Gel formulations are great to avoid the whitish tinge a sunscreen can leave. Also, use foundations, blushes, highlighters and bronzers that have SPF. Here are Mikyajy’s recommendations: (Flawless Matte Powder Foundation)

BONUS TIP: Use a gentle exfoliating scrub every 2-3 weeks and steam up your face to remove deep-clean your face. Blackheads and whiteheads are your enemies – kill them! Don’t forget to cool your skin with ice after this. Avoid going overboard with exfoliation and steaming, as this could rob your skin off of your amazing natural oils.
